Hyaluronic acid (HA) is an important component of the connective tissues of humans and other mammals. It gives the skin the properties of resistance and its ability to maintain its shape. In fact, HA deficiency causes a weakening of the skin with the formation of wrinkles and spots. Its tissue concentrationtends to decrease with age due to the presence of certain enzymes, hyaluronidases, which catalyze the degradation of the HA chain.
